Global Nutrition Competence Initiative (GNCI)

A LiveGreen Academy International Program Advancing Global Wellness through Nutrition Competence

Overview

The Global Nutrition Competence Initiative (GNCI) is a flagship international program of LiveGreen Academy that strengthens global capacity in nutrition and dietetics through competence assessment, professional development, and advocacy.
GNCI enables individuals and organizations to evaluate, enhance, and apply nutrition-related competencies in alignment with international standards and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — especially Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3), and Quality Education (SDG 4).
This initiative provides a structured platform for competence estimation and learning opportunities, helping participants identify where they stand, choose areas for improvement, and access credible educational resources to strengthen their impact.

Mission

To advance global wellness and sustainable development by enabling professionals and institutions in nutrition and dietetics to assess, enhance, and apply their competencies through guided self-assessment, professional education, research, and advocacy.

Core Objectives

Competence Assessment and Mapping

GNCI empowers individuals and institutions to assess and understand their existing professional capabilities through guided and self-assessment tools. Using globally recognized frameworks such as those from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), AfN, EFAD, and ICDA, these assessments provide structured reports that help identify strengths, gaps, and capacity-building priorities within teams and organizations.

Professional Learning and Development

Through structured short courses, webinars, and learning modules, GNCI fosters continuous professional growth in key areas including clinical nutrition, community health, leadership, and sustainability. Participants receive Certificates of Completion or Achievement and gain access to curated global learning resources from WHO, FAO, and other leading institutions to support lifelong learning.

Research and Knowledge Exchange

GNCI promotes evidence-based practice by conducting and supporting research in nutrition competence and education. A dedicated knowledge hub connects professionals worldwide with frameworks, publications, and emerging innovations, while fostering opportunities for data sharing, co-authored studies, and collaborative research networks that drive global progress in the field.

Advocacy and Global Collaboration

Committed to advancing equity and professionalism, GNCI advocates for competence-based education and ethical governance in nutrition and dietetics. By forming partnerships with universities, NGOs, and policy networks, the initiative builds bridges across borders and works to strengthen education systems and opportunities in low- and middle-income countries.

Organizational Consultancy and Development

GNCI assists academic and professional institutions in aligning their programs and workforce competencies with international standards. Consultancy services include curriculum design, team competence mapping, and capacity development strategies that enable organizations to improve program quality, strengthen teams, and nurture talent that meets global expectations.

Innovation and Digital Capacity Building

Recognizing the power of technology in modern education, GNCI promotes the integration of digital tools, e-learning platforms, and AI-based solutions into nutrition training and assessment. This focus on innovation enhances access, efficiency, and scalability, equipping professionals with digital literacy and future-ready skills essential for sustainable global health advancement.
